is it possible? could it be?!

it looks like i'll have atleast ONE (_1_) weekend day off! *YAY* I talked to my SpaBoss today and basically told her straight up, "I need some Family time" and explained my situation to her... She told me "Please keep your current schedule while I go help open the new Spa at NEW RESORT in Flordia and we'll get you off Sundays when I get back, just remind me."

I also talked to AcctgBoss today and she said "that's awesome, one more day for you to be in Accounting with us. Keep this up and they might as well transfer you back here" and we (me, her and other acctgirl laughed and laughed so wonderfully)

HOWEVER! I talked to HR today and the insurance doese NOT cover infertility treatments *sigh* and its only your bare minimum health insurance AND its 45 bucks every 2 freakin weeks for medical dental and vision. WHEN I was still working at THEFIRM, the ASSHOLES who laid me off (i'm so bitter now) we had full coverage on ANYTHING and EVERYTHING that you could think of. Infertility, etc etc. AND that was ONLY 20 bucks every 2 weeks for medical, dental & vision... So, WTF?! WHY and HOW can this crappy insurance be so much MORE than the awesome insurance? When Hephaestus had family coverage on us through AETNA it was only 50 every 2 weeks and it wasn't as uber or as lame as either one of these plans but it atleast covered SOME of the infertility...

I'm just a little freakin pissed off about this. Anyways so because of the insurance thing I'm thinking that I don't want to transfer to accounting at the Resort. That I want to just find another job completely. But I'm afraid I'll end up with a place that's too strict on dresscode... Atleast here I can be a little bit more lienient about what I wear...

shit damn and firey hell...

  1. Insurance sucks. I'm sorry to hear they won't cover infertility. I've known people to stay at a crappy job just for the insurance. I hate those issues.

  2. i hope now that i can conceive without help. atleast if i can keep fulltime hours i'll have insurance for the birth and that kind of care (which will be a while in its self so i'm not too worried about the time frame of not having insurance at this moment)

  3. The difference in the insurance costs is how much of it the employer is picking up for you against how much is being passed on to you.

The better plans cost a lot more, but in your previous cases the employer decided to cover a lot more of the cost itself (rather than passing it on to you).

  5. titan: maybe that's why they had to lay off 5 of us. along with the fact that while we were going through "this financial rut" they bought new software, upgraded most of the computer systems to vista (aka buying completely new systems) as well as buying everyone in the company 2 logod jackets... that's why i'm so pissed about being laid off from there... right when they were frivoulous with money.

    kat: i agree it sucks.

i think that everyone should pay one flat cost per individual and family rate and the family rate should be consistant for the amount of people in your family. like they do with cellphone plans say first 3 folks (mom dad and baby) flat fee and then each additional person an extra amount flat. i also think that if you are employeed and say your girlfriend isn't because you want her to stay at home then you have the right to put her on your coverage as a family plan. i also feel this way about immediate family and so forth. if a child is willing to carry thier parents on thier insurance then the parent wont have to depend on medicaid. THEN you could use the medicaid for folks who desperatly need it like to help supplement the costs of nursing home living and those folks who are severely disabled and need extra help & care that the child may not beable to provide because they work and need someone to stay at home with them like an elderly sitter.

    but that's just me.

  6. A flat rate for a phone plan works because the company's costs are consistent.

Health insurance is a rather different thing - it varies really widely (age, general health status, bad habits).

  7. By the way, it is not unusual for an employee's "benefits" like insurance and pension costs to run 25 to 50 percent above the salary paid.

Health insurance alone can run several hundred (to over a thousand) a month for an individual and well over a thousand for family coverage.
