what do you all think of this? if Joe and I can afford it --I'd love to homeschool our future children. Atleast up to a certain age...Altho I am not sure what age that would be? Middle School? High School?
“...So do we pass the ghosts that haunt us later in our lives; they sit undramatically by the roadside like poor beggars, and we see them only from the corners of our eyes, if we see them at all. The idea that they have been waiting there for us rarely if ever crosses our minds. Yet they do wait, and when we have passed, they gather up their bundles of memory and fall in behind, treading in our footsteps and catching up, little by little.”--Stephen King

Personally, I would prefer to put my kids in public school so that they can get the social aspect as well as education. I know it can be tough and kids can be mean but there is still such an opportunity there to learn and grow socially too. That's just me :)
ReplyDeleteI was actually homeschooled though I've never had the opportunity to do it with my kids it has it's pro's and con's. I was homeschooled from 4th until high school and I had plenty of social interaction with peers my own age because of church, sports and other homeschool activities. I say if you are interested you should look into it. Sometimes private schools have a homeschool programs that allows you to homeschool but also participate in there sports and field trip functions. Btw... if you are thinking about it I would start before the child ever goes to school because it was hard on me to leave school once I had started. I got used to it and I liked being homeschooled for reasons that I could do school work at my own pace but it was hard for me to leave friends behind.

I would personally send them to school primarily because I wouldn't want to give up my job...
ReplyDeleteThanks to everyone for your great ideas and thoughts.
ReplyDeletei've always been torn on this because i would love to stay at home with my kids (future kids).
i guess we'll see how the future holds. mainly it depends on whether or not we can afford it. and if we can afford it, how far can i teach them? so i would have them homeschooled up until a certain age/grade level.
