USATODAY.com - The Weather Guys: Archives

USATODAY.com - The Weather Guys: Archives: "In order to get an article published in a scientific journal, a scientist first submits a rough draft. The journal then sends the draft off to a group of experts in the particular scientific discipline for their reviews. After revisions are made, the article is finally accepted and published. This is called the peer review process.

In an AP story that ran today, Al Gore's climate change documentary, An Inconvenient Truth, and his book of the same title have been been subjected to the peer review process. The AP attempted to contact 100 of the nation's top climate scientists to get their impressions of the book and/or movie. While some had not seen the movie nor read the book, those that responded apparently had little to criticize when it came to the science that underpins the movie's message"
