A Daughter of a Lieutenant Colonel

Ashton's Story - SITREP #11
I want to share something that my daughter, Ashton, wrote. She was given an assignment to pick a day that changed their life and write about it. She had to then read the assignment to her class. I was blown away and am proud to share it with each of you:

"A Daughter of a Lieutenant Colonel"
By Ashton

"I'm not going to make it to your graduation."

I stared at my father in disbelief. Ripples of fear tore through my veins. Already this little conference wasn't going so well.

Early last May, my father and mother pulled me aside before bed and brought me downstairs for a little "conference." I, like a normal teenager in high school, wondered what I had gotten caught doing this time and what the punishment would be. As we walked downstairs I went through the last few weeks in my head to attempt to make up quick alibis and attempted to remember everything I may have been accused of doing.

This is a real tear jerker.. Please read the rest...
