Alright, I'm not some little teeny bopper kid, but I am "young" enough to enjoy some of the newer music that comes out these days. Actually, I like a whole broad spectrum of music.... Classical (Beethoven, Bach, etc), 40's (a few songs), 50's (a few songs), 60's, 70's (not that disco shit), 80's (mostly the monster ballads and hairbands), 90's (alternative rock all the way baby!). I enjoy listening to country music, I like more of a "traditional" country style. I'm not to sure about these new folks comming up into the "country" music scene, like that Cowboy Leroy or whatever his name is. See, he sucks so damned bad that I can't even remember the freak's name. Anyways, he's a new black "country" music singer. Sounds like he's trying to integrate RAP and COUNTRY!!! OMIGOD, talk about a total dis on my roots. I grew up with Country music. My family has country music bands (made it semi-famous, locally famous I'll say). My daddy use to play in a band. I remember laying on the floor while they played and drift away to sleep and find myself the next morning in my own bed. I miss those days. I think some of the happiest times of my life was when it was me and my daddy and we did our thing. Well, not "our" thing, but it was just me and him so it made our day to day life even more special for me.
Ok, we have Traditional country music. And we're talking to OLD shit that people know of because it started up in the Southern Mountain ranges. You know, it might have been just banjos sometimes, but that is the best music you'll hear anymore. Pure country! I can't help it "Yeee-Haaw!!" So now you know I'm an authentic country girl who likes (LOVES) traditional country music.
80's music. Poison, and my mind goes blank! MotleyCrue. Shit, if they were a hair band and they performed a monster ballad, I loved em. I might have been born in the 80's but sista, lemme tell ya, I remember the music very well. I might have had a daddy that instead of blood it was country coursin through his veins, but I had an Aunt (Melissa who was a teen during the 1st part of the 80's) that showed me what the 80's was all about! I spent alot of time over at my Grandma's house with my aunts and uncles. I use to live with one of them, but we already went through all that....
90's music.. I dont remember much about the 90's. I was a teenager and was being very stupid with my life. But bands that come to mind are Aerosmith, Nirvana, hell drawing a blank again.
Lets see here, 40's -- I can't remember specific names or bands, but it has alot to do with country.
50's -- "Do Wop" music? Is that right? if its not, please dont hurt me! lol. Once again, country music is preferred of the 50's and some of thier "rock" is cool too.
60's -- ofcourse you got your rock bands that just kicked ass and the summer of love music, thats all from the 60's and the country too, ofcourse!
70's -- I absolutely LOATH the disco music. There maybe be like 1 song that I like and its "ring my bell" or something like that. I dont even remember the artist. I love the "rock" music from that decade. You have alot of great bands that came out during that time. I can't remember them 1/2 the time so I'm not even going to try to! lol
I'm sure there is music from before the 40's that I love as well, but nothing really comes to mind. I listen to alot of different music. I really really can't stand disco and Gospel. Other than that I'm pretty open. I like some rap -- Love the Eminem, but alot of his music I can relate to specifically his song "Cleaning out my Closet" here is the lyrics... http://lyrics.astraweb.com/displayp.cgi?eminem..the_eminem_show..cleaning_out_my_closet
There is some other rap that is ok, but Eminem just seems like he's talking to my heart with some of this stuff. I can totally relate to him.
Currently, my "current" music selection consists of Seether, Evanescence, 3 days grace, Hoobastank, Gretchen Wilson, Avril Lavigne and others. Lately its been Seether's Disclaimer II. Its whats playing right now. For some reason I am mesmerized by this CD.
Well, I guess thats enough of me blabbing about my music. lol.
“...So do we pass the ghosts that haunt us later in our lives; they sit undramatically by the roadside like poor beggars, and we see them only from the corners of our eyes, if we see them at all. The idea that they have been waiting there for us rarely if ever crosses our minds. Yet they do wait, and when we have passed, they gather up their bundles of memory and fall in behind, treading in our footsteps and catching up, little by little.”--Stephen King
